Refurbishment Centre Volunteer (Ipswich)
Join our Refurbishment Centre Team in Ipswich (we also have a centre in Rugby) and make a difference in the lives of thousands of people across Africa! As part of our Refurbishment Centre Team, you will save hundreds of tonnes of tools from landfills and transform them into livelihood-creating tools.
We're looking for passionate and enthusiastic volunteers who are flexible and willing to help wherever needed. You'll play a key role in identifying the tools that can be used to change lives, giving them some basic TLC to bring them back to life, and putting together life-transforming kits that support long-term, livelihood-sustaining projects across Africa.
There are three key roles:
Bench Team : when the tools arrive on the TWAM van or from the general public, these key volunteers identify the tools that we can use to change lives and the tools that we need to find another home for.
Tool Refurbisher: they take the tools we can use and, through some basic TLC, give them another chance to be used and loved. A tool can be anything from a hammer to a sewing machine.
Toolkit Creator: they put together life-transforming kits, from a small sewing kit to an entire mechanics workshop kit.
If you have PAT testing or a Forklift Training license, please let us know, but it is not compulsory for this role.
If you have other skills would be of use to us, we would love to hear from you too.
As a part of our Refurbishment Centre Team, you'll be an essential part of our mission to support environmental responsibility and life-transforming projects across Africa. Join our flexible and exciting volunteer team today and become a part of something truly special!
If you have any questions about this role, please don't hesitate to contact Paul Daley, our Volunteering Coordinator at pauld@twam.uk.
